What to Wear to Our Traditional Events
For our traditional Balinese events, we invite you to embrace the beauty and cultural significance of Balinese attire. Dressing in traditional clothing is a way to honor the sacred rituals and local customs.
Here’s a guide to help you prepare:
For Men:
Kamen (Sarong): A long fabric wrapped around your waist, covering the legs.
Udeng: A traditional Balinese headpiece, symbolizing respect and balance.
Shirt: A simple, collared white shirt or traditional Balinese shirt (usually short-sleeved).
For Women:
Kamen (Sarong): A wrapped skirt that reaches the ankles, tied securely at the waist.
Kebaya: A beautiful lace or embroidered blouse that is fitted and elegant.
Selendang (Sash): A sash tied around the waist over the sarong, symbolizing spiritual focus.
Footwear is usually simple, such as sandals or slip-on shoes.
You probably don’t already own these things, but many local shops in Bali or Lombok offer rentals or purchases.
By wearing traditional Balinese clothing, you not only show respect for the culture but also immerse yourself in the spirit of the ceremonies. Don’t worry, it’s not cultural appropriation!
